What's going on in the start day of Cloud.bg?

It is Dec 15, 2009, the date when the test period of Cloud.bg has begun. Now (4.50 pm) our PR team works on a message to welcome the first cloud testers.

It is "fine tradition" in IT industry and in software development industry, in particular the official versions of products to be released unfinished. There is always something forgotten to be done. In our situation all things we would define as "undone" are planned.

One of them is the delayed development of the DNS update on top of the cloud. It has to be finished tomorrow, Dec 16 2009. Until then the first cloud testers should use administrative URLs, not their domain names.

Another small change to be made is to rename the nicknames of the nodes, part of the Cloud.bg High Availability system to "Something.Cloud.bg".

We are still working on the Cloud.bg web site's design and functionality. However there is plenty of time during the pre and post NEw Year's holidays. The official launch date for the Cloud.bg is January 20 2009, when the test period should end.

We are confident that we will not be running late with the official opening of the cloud hosting service. However, it is very hard to not preserve the above mentioned "fine tradition". Look at Microsoft. The software giant often postpones launch of its products and services. At least it did that with Windows Azure, Microsoft's Cloud OS. WE are start-up and we are small, but there is at least one thing that we do better than Microsoft - we keep to the deadlines we set for our own services and products.

The Cloud.bg testing is about to start today... within a few hours actually.
